Mike Lane is the Director of Planning and Economic Development for the City of Panama City, and has served in this capacity since November 2011. He has lived and worked in the Florida Panhandle as a planning official for over 17 years where he has held positions in Walton County, the City of Lynn Haven, and WilsonMiller, a private engineering, surveying, and planning firm. Prior to moving to Florida, he served as the Urban Development Director for the City of Hattiesburg, MS. Mike is a veteran planning official with over 29 years experience in the planning and economic development field. As a Mississippi native, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Community & Regional Planning. He has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association for over 24 years. Mike’s primary goal is to entice major retailers and restaurants to locate to the City of Panama City while making the city a more walkable, livable, and viable place.
