City Receives Letter of Interest for Panama City Marina

DJI_0005 (2)

The City Commission of the City of Panama City has received an unsolicited proposal from the St. Joe Company to construct a hotel on the City’s downtown marina property.

In a letter to Mayor Greg Brudnicki and the City Commissioners, St. Joe’s President and Chief Executive Officer Jorge Gonzalez explains the hotel would be no more than five (5) stories in height and have a lounge and restaurant open for all meal periods. It would also be consistent with the existing character of downtown Panama City.

Gonzalez also explains the company’s intention is to fund, construct, own, and operate the hotel and restaurant on the City’s property without requesting financial assistance from the City.

Mayor Brudnicki has requested that the letter be placed on the September 13th agenda for discussion.

The City Commission will meet at 5:01 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 in the Bay County Commission Meeting Room located in the Bay County Government Complex, 840 West 11th Street. The meeting may also be viewed live on the City’s website.
