FEMA to Conduct Damage Assessments in Special Flood Hazard Areas

fema-logo-blue

Beginning Monday, January 28th, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be doing damage assessments for residents with property in a Special Flood Hazard Area (A, AE, and VE Zones) ONLY. The City of Panama City participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and Community Rating Systems (CRS) which require the inspections.

FEMA staff will be collecting information necessary to make the appropriate Special Flood Hazard Area damage determinations on each structure. Staff will be conducting the assessments from the curb or sidewalk and will be wearing a FEMA identification badge. It will take approximately 45 days to complete the assessments.

If you have any questions regarding the assessment process, you may call Jennifer Aldridge at (850) 867-1976 (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) To find out if your property is located within a Special Flood Hazard Area, visit http://www.baycountyfl.gov/508/FEMA-Flood-Zones.
