Panama City Fire Dept. Warns of Fire Danger, No Burning in City Limits

As extremely dry conditions persist in our area, the Panama City Fire Department warns citizens of the increasing danger of grass fires. Something as small as a cigarette butt tossed from a vehicle could start a fire.

Reminder! Within the city limits of the City of Panama City, it is unlawful year-round to burn any materials of any type without a permit from the Fire Chief. This includes household garbage, yard debris, construction materials and/or any other combustible materials.

Citizens are allowed to use commercially manufactured fire pits, chimineas, ect. that are designed and sold as outdoor fireplaces in the City, but we ask that you refrain from using these until we receive a good amount of rainfall.

Please be diligent. As our firefighters have seen, unauthorized burns can quickly spread to neighboring properties. Don't put your home and your neighbors' homes at risk.
