The new Carl Gray Park Boat Ramp is open!

The first phase of improvements to the park included replacing the existing boat ramp with a new two-lane ramp, adding three fixed staging docks, installing channel markers, stabilizing the shoreline and improving the parking lot.

The Bay County Board of County Commissioners assisted the City in securing federal funding from the Department of the Treasury under the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act of 2012 (RESTORE Act) to improve the existing boat ramp. The City’s portion of the grant was for $500,000.

Bay County employees also assisted the City in 2018 by dredging a deeper channel to accommodate larger boats.

Construction of phase one cost approximately $1 Million and took about five months to complete.

Phase two of the project, which is currently in the engineering and design stage, will include new restrooms and outdoor showers, pavilions, picnic tables, sidewalks, lighting and improvements to the shoreline to create a sandy beach.

The park is located on Collegiate Drive. It is open daily from dawn to dusk.
