The City of Panama City will host three meetings to gather interest from businesses for the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity's (DEO) Hometown Revitalization Program.
Business owners may attend the meetings in-person at the listed locations or virtually via Zoom. These meetings will provide an opportunity to learn more about the program, eligibility requirements, project areas and how to participate.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) has allocated $60 million in Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding to support the revitalization of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-designated low- to moderate-income (LMI) commercial areas that were impacted by Hurricane Michael. The City of Panama City is pursuing CDBG-DR funds through a competitive application process to fund the Hometown Revitalization Program which will make improvements and repairs to eligible privately-owned commercial structures impacted by Hurricane Michael. The City is currently accepting interest forms to be included in the CDBG-DR application to DEO. To be considered eligible for the Hometown Revitalization Program, your business must meet the below criteria.
To be considered eligible for participation in the Hometown Revitalization Program, business must meet the following criteria outlined by DEO. Businesses must:
- Be located in Florida;
- Be located in one of the six HUD/DEO-eligible target areas;
- Be owned and controlled by persons eligible to work in the U.S.;
- Have sustained Hurricane Michael damages;
- Have been owned and established on or before October 10, 2018 (date of Hurricane Michael landfall);
- Be registered with the State of Florida (certificate of status from the Florida Department of State); and
- Currently have at least two (2) full-time employees and have employed at least two (2) full-time employees on or before October 10, 2018.

- Business 98 - Everitt Avenue to Bay Avenue
- Business 98 - Florida Avenue to 4th Street
- Highway 77 - Highway 231 to 6th Street
- Beck Avenue - 10th Street to 15th Street
- 3rd Street - Everitt Avenue to Maple Avenue
- Harrison Avenue - Highway 231 to the Marina

- Roof replacement/repairs
- Replacement of damaged signs
- Landscaping improvements
- Window and door replacement
- Awning replacement
- Exterior painting
- Repair or replacement of gutters
- Repair of electrical wiring
- Repair or replacement of exterior lighting
- Parking lot repairs or restriping

The City will host a Hometown Revitalization Program Kickoff Meeting via Zoom on February 10, 2021 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The Meeting ID is 843 7941 8497 and Passcode is 826686. Attendance at the meeting is optional but strongly encouraged. The City will also be hosting community specific meetings both in-person and virtually to provide interested business owners with additional opportunities to provide input in the application development process.
