Notice of Final Public Hearing for FY22 Budget and Millage Rate

UPDATE: Following a Public Hearing on September 13, 2021, the City Commission set the City's Tentative Millage Rate for Fiscal Year 2022 at 4.899 mills, representing a decrease from the previous millage rate. The Tentative Millage Rate for the Downtown Improvement Board (DIB) was set at 3.000 mills, representing no change from last year.

The Second and Final Public Hearing for the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget and Millage rate for the City and Downtown Improvement Board will be held in conjunction with the Commission Meeting on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 5:01 p.m. The hearing will be held in the Bay County Commission Meeting Room located at the Bay County Government Complex, located at 840 West 11th Street.

the City Commission also heard presentations from Raftelis on the Water and Wastewater Technical Rate Study and Sanitation Technical Rate Study and considered rates.

  • The rate for water and wastewater in Fiscal Year 2022 will increase by 7.5%, which breaks down to an additional $1.35 per 1,000 gallons of water used monthly.
  • The rate for sanitation will remain the same.

The City Commission will hold the first Public Hearing for the Fiscal Year 2022 Tentative Budget and Millage rate for the City and Downtown Improvement Board (DIB) in conjunction with the Commission Meeting on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 5:01 p.m.

  • The Mayor and Commissioners voted in July to cap the proposed millage rate at 4.999 mills, representing no increase from the previous millage rate. During the workshop, the Commission discussed ways to continue the commitment to reduce ad valorem (millage) rates for property owners within the City. The goal is to lower the millage rate prior to adopting a rate in September.

At the meeting on September 13, 2021, the City Commission will also hear presentations from Raftelis on the Water and Wastewater Technical Rate Study and Sanitation Technical Rate Study and will consider any recommended changes to fees.

  • The Proposed Rate for Water and Wastewater in Fiscal Year 2022 includes an increase of $1.35 per 1,000 gallons of water used monthly.
  • The Proposed Rate for Sanitation includes no increase.
