Capt Stan Jones was hired as Marina Director in June 2013.
Stan was honorable discharged from the United States Marine Corp in 2000. After his time in the Corp, he became a SCUBA instructor and ran dive operations in St Kitts and San Salvador Island, Bahamas totaling 3 years. Stan met the love of his life, Holly, in the Bahamas and relocated to Baltimore. He worked as a Private Captain and a manager of Ed Kane’s Water Taxi until 2005. Stan currently holds a 100 ton Near Coastal Master’s License. Stan and Holly were wed in 2005 and relocated to Columbia, SC after cruising the ICW from Baltimore to Charleston, SC.
Stan briefly worked as a Survey Diver for Beach Replenishment projects, then took over management of Lighthouse Marina in Columbia. Under Stan’s guidance, Lighthouse Marina was the first marina to obtain the coveted Clean Marina status on Lake Murray. He served as Vice President of the South Carolina Marine Association.
In 2010, he took over as Harbormaster of Charleston Harbor Marina, South Carolina’s largest permitted marina. He hosted Charleston Race Week, the nation’s largest regatta for 4 years and multiple fishing tournaments. Stan became a Certified Marina Manager in 2013.
Stan and Holly enjoy camping and kayak fishing. Their daughter, Hannah, was born in 2008 and son, Tide, in 2010.
